Parasite Prevention
Parasites are a constant, year round problem and do their best to attack your pet internally and externally. Fleas, ticks, intestinal worms, and mosquitoes aren't just a nuisance; they can cause disease in pets and in people, too. Fortunately, with the right laboratory testing, medical protocols and preventative products we can keep your pets free of heartworms, fleas, ticks and intestinal parasites. Our team will examine and test your pet for the telltale signs of parasites and can educate you on the recommended medications for parasite prevention.
Flea & Tick Prevention
Preventing fleas and ticks in your pet can be as
simple as giving them a monthly treat! These medicated treats are safe and extremely effective
at preventing fleas and ticks year round and, in turn, preventing the chance of your pet
picking up a flea or tick borne illness. Our staff can help you decide which preventative,
whether oral or topical will work best for your pet.
Internal Parasites
Ever wonder why our team might ask you to bring in a
stool sample from your pet? This is the easiest way for us to check your pet for intestinal
parasites like roundworms, hookworms, whipworms and more. These intestinal parasites along
with others like giardia, have the chance to be transmitted to other pets and even to humans,
so early detection, treatment and prevention is key.
Heartworm Prevention
Transmitted by mosquitoes, heartworm is a deadly,
but preventable, disease our vets see. In fact, infected dogs may act completely normal.
They'll likely eat, drink and behave the same as they did prior to infection while allowing
the spread of the disease through mosquitoes. This entire cycle can be easily avoided with a
heartworm preventative. It's imperative to have your pet tested prior to starting these
preventatives and our team can guide you through the process.
